On the tenth anniversary of the Grand Bargain initiative, Qatar Charity's "MAEIN" initiative emerged as a practical model that contributes to turning the commitments of the World Humanitarian Summit into a tangible reality. "MAEIN" bridges a fundamental gap in the global humanitarian system through assessment and capacity-building tools specifically designed for the Arab and Islamic context, while complying with international standards.
"MAEIN" aims to enable local organizations to meet the requirements of international donors and enhance their readiness to access flexible and sustainable funding, positioning them in a leading position to embody the core pillar of the Grand Bargain: localization. Through strategic partnerships with the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies and international academic and humanitarian institutions, the initiative works to develop organizations' capacities to lead the humanitarian response in their countries themselves, away from over-reliance on international actors.
At the Grand Bargain's annual meeting, Qatar Charity announced its official membership in the global initiative, affirming its commitment to enhancing transparency and cooperation and announcing that the "MAEIN" initiative will be its primary platform for fulfilling this commitment. Since 2016, Qatar Charity has allocated approximately 30% of its spending to support local organizations, exceeding the target set in the Grand Bargain and establishing, through "MAEIN," a practical model for responsible localization.
With Qatar Charity's experience spanning more than four decades, MAEIN builds on a rich humanitarian legacy and a clear vision that sustainable solutions can only be achieved by empowering local organizations and giving them the lead in responding to crises.
